Forces Part 1: Basics of Forces
Duration: About 1 hour
Students will recognize a force as a push or a pull and the 4 types of forces, namely, elastic, magnetic, gravitational, and frictional forces. They will investigate how a force affects the speed of an object using an MGA datalogger with a photogate as well as how a force affects the direction of an object. They will learn how to handle relevant concept-application questions and further develop their process and thinking skills. The process skills that will be developed through this lesson are: Observing, Comparing, Using datalogger equipment, Inferring and Analyzing.
