Electricity Part 2: Effect of some variables in a circuit

Duration: About 1 hour

Students will recognize series and parallel arrangements of batteries and bulbs, recognize the relationship between electric current and brightness of bulb and recognize the effect of the number of batteries in parallel on brightness of bulb using an MGA datalogger with 3 light sensors. They will investigate the effect of the number of batteries in series on electric current and brightness of bulb using an MGA datalogger with a current sensor as well as effect of the number of bulbs in series and in parallel on electric current and brightness of bulbs. They will also learn how to handle relevant concept-application questions and further develop their process skills and thinking skills. The process skills that will be developed through this lesson are: Observing, Comparing, Using datalogger equipment, Inferring and Analyzing.
