Electricity Part 1: Basics of Electricity

Duration: About 1 hour

Students will recognize an electric circuit as a system consisting of energy source, wire, bulb and switch, recognize electric current and resistance, recognize good conductor, poor conductor and insulator as well as recognize circuit diagrams. They will investigate electric current in open circuit, closed circuit and short circuit using an MGA datalogger with a current sensor. They will also learn how to handle relevant concept-application questions and further develop their process skills and thinking skills. The process skills that will be developed through this lesson are: Observing, Comparing, Using datalogger equipment, Inferring and Analyzing.
